About the Awards

The annual Awards for Excellence competition has been been running for over 25 years and is the only one in WA conducted by a plumbing industry association.

In addition to Award categories that acknowledge the achievements of plumbing businesses owned by our members, there is a Plumbing Apprentice of the Year category that any fourth-year apprentice in WA may enter.

The Awards promote the values of a strong professional industry and the quality of the entries confirms what our media advertising tells consumers: when you need a plumber, choose a member of The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA.

Awards Presentation Night

On Saturday 25 November, about 150 Association members, their staff and partners, sponsors and other invited guests gathered for night of celebration at Beaumonde On The Point.

The Master of Ceremonies, AFL Legend Scott Cummings, deserves his own special Award for Excellence for the way he kept the energy level high from start to finish, striking the right balance between humour and serious messages about the important work done by plumbers, and explaining why the Award finalists and winners had earned recognition and applause.

Hall of Fame induction for Kyla Jones

The event took on a more solemn tone when the late Kyla Jones was inducted into our Hall of Fame. Kyla was our hightly respected Manager of Operations and Industry and was tragically taken from us in December 2022.

Membership of the Hall of Fame is a fitting honour for a very special person who worked hard and tirelessly for this Association and had been a driving force in the plumbing industry over a period of 30 years.

Publicity in The West Australian

The Wednesday 29 November edition of The West Australian carried a full-page pictorial feature about the Awards and the Awards Presentation Night, complete with names and photos of the winners and a tribute to Kyla Jones.

A copy of the feature is available to download here.
