Where tradies and glamour collide - Steeltoes and Stilettos 2024

Industry news

Returning again on Friday 22 November 2024, Steeltoes & Stilettos is a unique annual fundraising event for tradies. It's a construction industry night of entertainment with a serious message about the ongoing risks of asbestos.

The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA is proudly an event sponsor. We strongly encourage everyone to join the fun and support this worthwhile cause!

About asbestos, the silent killer

Asbestos was widely used in the construction industry between 1945 and 1990, before eventually being banned in 2003. Australia was one of the highest users of asbestos and buildings constructed or renovated before 1990 are likely to contain it in some form.

There is no known safe level of asbestos exposure. It is estimated that more than 4000 people die every year in Australia from asbestos - nearly four times the annual road toll.

About Steeltoes & Stilettos

Steeltoes & Stilettos is a red-carpet fundraiser where tradies compete to be top fundraisers so they can walk their trade's runway with a model. This year it will be at the Rendezvous Hotel Scarborough on Friday 22 November.

The organisers are Reflections, a not-for-profit that reduces the impact of asbestos and brings hope to those affected.
