Why we partner with MADDA, the organisation every plumber should know about

Association news

Exposure to asbestos means plumbers are among the tradies most at risk of developing mesothelioma, a terminal cancer.

The risk is due to decades of working with materials that once commonly contained asbestos, including pipe insulation, cement pipes, gaskets and sealing compounds.

Often, plumbers are unaware of being exposed. Sometimes the tragic impact only becomes clear many years later.

As the industry association that represents licensed plumbing and gasfitting contractors in WA, we have a responsibility to support safety education and asbestos awareness.

That's why we are an Industry Partner of Mesothelioma and Dust Diseases Australia — MADDA — the organisation that raises awareness of asbestos risks and supports efforts to protect people in plumbing and gasfitting trades.

We're helping them spread the message that awareness, education and proper asbestos management can save lives.
