Have your say on the burden of business reporting - submissions close 30 September

Laws, regulations & standards

Concerned about the impact of bureacratic red tape on our industry? The Productivity Commission is investigating how to improve the efficiency of non-financial business reporting requirements. The deadline for detailed submissions or brief comments is 30 September 2026.

The burden of mandatory reporting about topics such as workplace gender equality, the environment and sustainability and Scope 3 emissions flows through the entire supply chain. The large businesss that are required to submit these reports can push requests for information down to the smaller businesses that supply them.

In other words, businesses like those operated by our members, who don't have teams of people dedicated to preparing reports and complying with regulations.

The result is business owners and operational staff spending an ever-increasing amount of time on administrative work.
