The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA commends the Plumbers Licensing Board for prosecuting a Kalgoorlie man who performed unlicensed and defective plumbing work.
We fully support such action because illegal plumbing work undermines the professional plumbing industry and can create serious health and safety risks.
The man had carried out sanitary plumbing work and alterations to water supply at a Kalgoorlie home. An investigation found incorrectly installed hot and cold pipework, and an incorrectly installed shower wastepipe.
After pleading guilty in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court, he was fined $1500 and ordered to pay $571 in costs.
Building and Energy published details of the case in this media release on Tuesday 30 June.
Residential and commercial customers should only engage with licensed plumbing contractors. This includes all our members, and our committment to giving them greater public visibility — and stamping out non-compliant operators — is why we are investing heavily in the new Find a Master Plumber platform.
