WA gasfitters are reminded about the new Australian Standards requirements for isolating multilayer pipes in a fire emergency.
AS/NZS 5601:2022, which was published on 30 September 2022, introduced new provisions in clause 5.2.11 for isolating multilayer pipes during a fire emergency.
On 24 March 2023, the Director of Energy Safety published a variation to delay the introduction of clause 5.2.11 until 30 June 2023. We reported on the variation in this news item on 27 March.
Gasfitters must comply with the new requirements with any work that commences after 29 June 2023. This applies to all installations, modifications and alterations.
