The Australian Government has published an asbestos awareness guide that we urge all plumbers to read.
Anyone working in plumbing trades is likely to come into contact with asbestos. Its tiny fibres are associated with fatal diseases including asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.
The guide has information about where you might find asbestos, the laws that relate to asbestos management and removal and how to protect yourself and others from exposure.
The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency created the guide with input from Master Plumbers Australia and New Zealand, the national industry body that includes The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA.
