Wages and super going up on 1 July 2024

On Monday 3 June 2024, the Fair Work Commission announced this year's increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages.

The increases are the result of the Annual Wage Review.

  • The National Minimum Wage will increase by 3.75 per cent to $915.90 per week ($24.10 per hour), based on a 38-hour week
  • Minimum wage rates in Modern Awards will also increase by 3.75 per cent

The increases apply from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2024.

They affect the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2020, Clerks - Private Sector Award 2020, Building and Construction General On-site Award 2020, and General Retail Industry Award 2020.

Increase to superannuation guarantee percentage

The superannuation guarantee rate will increase from 11.0 per cent to 11.5 per cent of ordinary time earnings on 1 July 2024.

The new rate will apply to wages paid on or after 1 July 2024, even if some or all of the pay period is before 1 July.

The rate will increase from 11.5 per cent to 12.00 per cent on 1 July 2025.
