Building and Construction Industry Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions (No.3)

COVID-19

The WA Government has issued Building and Construction Industry Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions (No.3), which prevent building and construction workers (unless exempt) from entering or remaining at a building and construction site unless vaccinated against COVID-19.

These Directions replace the previous Directions (No 2) and include new definitions of a building and construction site.

Definitions of a building and construction site

The new Directions (No. 3) provide the following definitions of a building and construction site that apply for the purposes of the Directions.

(a) a place at which building work is being carried out, but does not include building work:
(i) carried out in relation to a dwelling in which a person is residing; or
(ii) for which, pursuant to paragraph 41 of the Building Regulations 2012 (WA), a building permit is not required; or
(iii) for which, pursuant to paragraph 42 of the Building Regulations 2012 (WA), a demolition permit is not required; or
(b) a place at which construction work is being carried out, but does not include construction work carried out in relation to a dwelling in which a person is residing; or
(c) any other place that is specified to be a building and construction site by the Chief Health Officer in writing or any person authorised by him for that purpose.
