Coronavirus Supplement
On 10 November 2020, the Australian Government announced that the Coronavirus Supplement will be extended until 31 March.
The Coronavirus Supplement was $550 per fortnight from 27 April 2020 to 24 September 2020, then $250 per fortnight from 25 September 2020 to 31 December 2020.
From 1 January 2021 to 31 March 2021, it is $150 per fortnight.
Who is eligible for the Coronavirus Supplement?
- Anyone currently receiving one of these welfare payments
- JobSeeker Payment (formerly known as the Newstart Allowance)
- Sickness Allowance
- Youth Allowance for jobseekers
- Parenting Payment Partnered
- Parenting Payment Single
- Partner Allowance
- Sickness Allowance
- Farm Household Allowance
- Small business owners, sole traders, self-employed people, casuals and contract workers whose income falls below $1,075 a fortnight because of the coronavirus. If you have a business, you must keep operating it while you receive the payment.
- Carers of someone affected by coronavirus.
How to claim the Coronavirus Supplement
If you're not currently receiving welfare, you need to apply. You can claim online through myGov using a Centrelink online account, or contact Services Australia by phone for more details.
