Australian Water Invention Wins “The Asian Innovation Award”

Biolytix® Water has won the prestigious “Asian Innovation Award 2007”, sponsored by The Wall Street Journal (Asia) .
The award is the leading honour for companies in the Asia-Pacific region, and is open to companies that “create new technologies that improve our quality of life”. The Biolytix® Sewage Treatment System beat all other technologies including IBM and Shell. This is the Award’s 10th year and there were 260 entries.
Dean Cameron, the inventor and Managing Director of Biolytix® Water, was presented the award in Singapore at the Gala Award Dinner. Over 1000 business people from Asia and the Pacific attended the evening.
Biolytix® sewage treatment solutions use 90% less energy than conventional sewage systems, with the potential to massively reduce greenhouse gases globally. Traditional sewerage and water supply uses large amounts of energy, sometimes up to 5% of a State’s total energy use.
After 12 years of studying and mimicking nature (the science of Biomimicry), Dean designed the Biolytix®, which is cleverly powered by nature, not electricity. The system emulates the genius of nature to harness the energy stored in sewage, including toilet paper, to nourish the organisms that convert the sewage into clean water.
Detailed research strongly indicates Biolytix® Water has created the most greenhouse friendly biological Sewage Treatment System in the world.
Being modular it can be used by households individually, or scaled up for commercial use, or linked for neighbourhoods in a ‘Biowater’ Scheme.
Biowater sewerage infrastructure costs around 50% less than conventional sewage systems and the effluent can be reused to irrigate household gardens, community facilities, parks, golf courses and for other purposes.
Biolytix® has sold systems in New Zealand, Southern Africa, Fiji and the Cook Islands.
